How to slice a sprite sheet
- Load your sprite sheet into Pixforge and click Slice into Frames in the sidebar.
- Set the columns and rows. Pixforge suggests values from the image proportions. Numbered cells and a dimmed border show exactly what will be kept.
- Zoom and pan inside the slicer to check the grid on small sprites, then confirm.
- Edit the frames. Each cell becomes a frame on the timeline. Reorder, redraw or delete frames, and preview the animation with loop or one-shot playback.
- Export. Save a spritesheet, an animated GIF or individual PNG output.
Make a sprite sheet from your own frames
You can also go the other way. Draw each frame on the timeline, set the number of columns in the export dialog and download a single spritesheet image that game engines such as Godot, Unity and GameMaker can load.
Tips
- Make sure every frame in the original sheet has the same size, so the grid lines up.
- Leave transparent backgrounds as PNG to keep alpha when you export.
- Use the timeline preview to test timing before exporting.
